THE MAYAN GODS

Cihuatán Alux is a limited edition rum inspired by the Mayan legend of the Aluxes, guardian gods of the land. According to Mayan lore, these gods lived in maize and cacao fields, as these were regarded as the most sacred gifts of the earth. At the beginning of every harvest season, the Maya would hold an echanting feast full of rich treats of chocolate and corn in gratitude to the Aluxes. As a gift for these guardian gods, Cihuatán crafted this rum with notes of Mayan atole, cashew nuts, ginger, cinnamon sticks, roasted corn and chocolate mousse. This rum is a limited edition finished in Oloroso & Cognac barrels.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Maya-atole, hot cacao, malt, cinnamon, ginger.
Palate: Dark chocolate, rice pudding, caramel, allspice, nutmegg
Finish: Long Finish, chocolate, Oak character
